They gave me four days & $1200 cash to drive alone from New Mexico to Chicago in an empty van. So I did.
Silver Saddle Motel
I like motels.
Preferably odd ones.
I don't care if it's a cliché.
Or hipster ironic.
Or stuff white people like.
I like silly motels.
Sit on it.
Tonight I stayed at The Silver Saddle Motel in Santa Fe.
The room boasted a Lone Ranger motif, with cheap mismatched frames immortalizing TV's Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels.
A cowboy hat hung tacked to the cement wall.
Leather hoop chairs saddled up to a rustic table for a horseshoe lamp.
Starry coined quilts blanketed the beds in hues of New Mexico chiles.
Genuine southwestern tongue in cheek charm.
The Fred Armisen-looking motel clerk recommended an eatery and an imbibery.
Hi-Yo, Silver Saddle Motel!
